Cheating is a violation of academic integrity and Board Rule 9803.12. Penalties for cheating may include a grade of zero or “F” on an exam or paper, or even suspension from the College.

Adds for a course within the LACCD will not be processed if there are three recorded attempts for that course in any combination of W, D, F, or NP grades. For courses specifically designated as "repeatable," students may repeat up to three times.

Full-time students (a student enrolled in 12 or more graded units the qualifying semester) must earn a 3.5 or higher GPA. Part-time students (a student enrolled in 6 through 11 graded units) must have completed 12 units and earn a 3.5 or higher GPA in the qualifying semester.

Bud Bradley, who won the 1954 U.S. Junior Amateur at LACC, once called it “the most exclusive gentile club in America.” It didn't admit any Jewish members until the 1970s, and the first Black member wasn't until 1991.

Yes, the school may pursue criminal charges based on the accusation of academic dishonesty. When bribery or fraud is in play, criminal prosecution is possible. Paying for a grade leads to defrauding the school as students did not earn the grade through their academic merit.

Colleges take academic integrity very seriously, so being caught cheating can be a significant setback in the admissions process.

Students who continue to cheat and get caught risk failing a class, receiving academic suspension or being expelled from the school, which may come with a note on their transcript explaining why they were dismissed. This designation will likely make it harder to enroll at another college, experts say.
